Des anyone know if this place is open yet? I'm curious to go but from earlier posts regarding the Hillside location it is either hit or miss. I don't want to be the first but it sounds very interesting and we could use some different options along Barrington Road.

The hours at Priscilla's have certainly been hit and miss at the Hillside location, but the food has been quite good the few times we've dined there.

It's simple food served cafeteria style, FWIW, so you're going to the wrong place if you're expecting linen napkins and fine china.

    Hi,

Priscilla's appears to be at her best when it is peak attendance and food turnover. Off hours, like most buffets, it suffers from lack of food turnover.

    Regards,

Priscilla's is one of my favorite lunch time spots... when I get out of the office for lunch that is. :D

Those smothered porkchops are the best. With the above said I have only been at the peak lunchtimes.

Admittedly, it's been quite busy the handful of times we've dined at Priscilla's. Sunday brunch seems to be a popular time.

I visited Pricilla's over the weekend. Here's my take.

The expression "soul food" is thought to have derived from the spirit and soul-satisfying flavors of African-American food. If you break it down, “soul food” is in essence, “comfort food.” It’s a cuisine that reminds you of family, warms your soul, and makes you feel good all over. “Pricilla’s Ultimate Soul Food Cafeteria” is taking aim at both your stomach and your heart.

My first visit to “Pricilla’s” was very similar to the family dinner’s I grew up with. While we never dined cafeteria style, we always had enough food to feed an army. With that said, I grab my tray and start making my choices. I start off with three pieces of fried chicken, let me correct myself, I try to start off with three pieces of chicken. That’s when Pricilla herself decides that I don’t have enough food. She adds an extra drumstick and a piece of catfish to my plate, very similar to many of my Aunts when I was growing up. “Aunt Pricilla” then proceeds to serve me mac and cheese, candy yams, green beans, two cornbread muffins, and a slice of sweet potato pie. Truth be told, she wanted to add on a pork chop until I told her nothing more would fit on my tray!

On the second visit the friendly ladies served my wife and I a somewhat more reasonable amount of food. This visit featured barbeque spareribs, meat loaf, catfish, mashed potatoes, baked beans, mac and cheese, cornbread, peach cobbler, and cheesecake. If this seems like a lot of variety, it is. Similar to your old lunchroom cafeteria, the menu changes daily with only a few staples available every day.

Dieters beware; there is nothing at “Pricilla’s” that doesn’t stick to your ribs. There are a few standouts that had me craving more. Hands down my favorite item was the crispy, peppery, flaky, fried catfish! I came in craving fried chicken, still a fine choice, but left yearning for more fish. Homemade mac and cheese and sweet baked beans were the favorites among the sides. I rejoiced after my first bite of sweet potato pie and was searching for a glass of milk after my first bite of the cheesecake. Stuffed with fudge and topped with caramel, this cheesecake had me wanting more.

Have you seen your dentist lately? Pricilla makes a homemade punch capable of decaying every tooth in your mouth! The first few sips were wonderful, and then the rest had my teeth begging for Colgate!

Dinner for two will range between $20 and $30, a value considering how much food ends up on your tray. Overall “Pricilla’s” offers good rib sticking food, warm and inviting service, and reasonable prices. Rating ** and 1/2 out of ****.

Yes, the Priscilla's in Streamwood is open for about 10 ten days now. Same hours, same menu.

It's open. I'm not sure about the menu being the same (I think smothered chicken replaced the turkey today). As a PSA they're not in an outbuilding. They're a few doors down from the Value City behind Portillos. It's a pretty deep storefront. I'm guessing that it's quite a bit larger than the place in Hillside (yes I've eaten there too).

Oxtails on Thursday were terrific. Considerably larger than Hillside.
