Went to Manny's last Friday. Yes, I was there and in the videos. Among our sandwiches we ordered a reuben that came with a scant amount of saurekraut and no swiss cheese. It was the first time that I had ever ordered a rueben there. Is that normal?

Well, it's happened to me on a couple of occasions, but I immediately addressed the situation with them and they've fixed the sandwich. . . you've got to be assertive there. If they give you what appears to be an old, scantly dressed, or otherwise unsatisfactory reuben (or anything), say so and they'll fix it. They'll probably throw a lot more meat on than usual. How it can happen at all I don't know though . . . it shouldn't. Otherwise, they're my favorite reubens in town.

The reubens always look great but I'm never able to get past the pastrami.

    Hi,

    Isn't a pastrami Reuben called a Rachel?

    Regards,

I think a Rachel is most often a pastrami reuben that also subs cole slaw for sauerkraut. But in practical terms, I've seen Rachels that contained turkey, turkey pastrami or other meats, as well. I play it safe and order a pastrami reuben, just so I don't end up with something I don't want.

I always get them half and half - corned beef and pastrami. I like how the "lean-ness" of the corned beef balances out the pastrami. :)

Manny's fans might want to check out this deal ($10 for $25 cert):

$10 cert. sold out. Also only good for dinner. We went to Manny's three weeks ago. Wife ordered the Reuben, I ordered the roast beef. Wife questioned my sanity (yet again), then tasted my rare (as ordered) roast beef. She agreed it was the best roast beef sandwich she had ever tried, and that I was right (yet again).

Wow--That was fast!! I failed to secure mine in time (there were ~1100 left when I posted). Sorry I hadn't noticed the dinner restriction, but I guess that's a moot point now. You've really got me obsessed with trying the roast beef sandwich now, though--I guess these promotional activities are effective.

Maybe it's best that you didn't get a coupon, since they occasionally run out of roast beef by the time dinner time rolls around. By the way, you'll want the roast beef on onion roll, and note that some tables have horse radish.

Love Manny's reuben, but I've been wanting to try the corned beef hash.

I know breakfast ends at 10:30am. In the morning, do they still do all the normal sandwiches, as well as breakfast? Or is it breakfast only in the morning?

    Thanks!

Breakfast only. I was there in September around 9 am on a Tuesday and it was strictly breakfast. Not bad, but not really what I wanted. They did NOT have the corned beef or pastrami out.

FWIW, I called in advance of a 10:30 Saturday gathering last month, worried I'd miss out on the star, a corned beef sandwich:
Asked what time they open? "5 AM"
Asked when they start serving sandwiches? "5 AM"

Considering the above post not sure if this was a weekend thing, but it may be worth dusting off that old gem, "just call first".
