Holiday Cookbook wishlist... Whats on yours?

With the holidays upon us I am inevitably searching for a couple of new cookbooks to add to my collection. So far I am looking at the following:

The Alinea cookbook- Its beautiful!

The flavor bible - Anyone have this? Any comments?

Culinary Artistry - Appears to be not so much as a "how-to"

What is on your list? Any standout new adds to your collection you would suggest taking a look at?

I've browsed through the following and liked what I saw:

Bakewise (Shirley Corriher)
Under Pressure (Thomas Keller).

I have been wanting to grab Jamie At Home teh new one from Jamie Oliver. As much as he annoys me on TV, his cookbooks always have great stuff in them.

Have also been meaning to grab the Berghoff Familiy Cookbook.

One that I've always wanted but could not justify buying is Thai Food by David Thompson. I have his smaller, earlier book Thai Cuisine and I love it.

I've had my eye on this one as well. I really like the food he cooks on this show. I also like the gardening tips.

I have been cooking for about 30 years and have never tackled sauces other than as a "to go with".

So, Sauces: Classical and Contemporary Sauce Making by James Peterson is at the top of my list.

I just received The Flavor Bible as a gift and, at first blush, am enamored.

Two of the more accomplished folks I know swear by the Flavor Bible, Jazzfod and Crrush.

If I didn't already have the book it would be in my top three must haves.

Just read a review of my new must have, though not a cook book, Everything but the Squeal by John Barlow

I have subscriptions to Cooks Illustrated and Cooks Country on my Amazon list, as well as Bake Until Bubbly.

Dessert FourPlay: Sweet Quartets from a Four-Star Pastry Chef. I'm sticking (mostly) to my vow to use the cookbooks I already own rather than buying new ones, but this one is on my list in case Santa thinks I've been good this year.

Jazzfood and I met the authors of the Flavor Bible recently. They considered the LTHforum GNR list I gave them to be something they wished they had before their visit. I also gave them some LTHforum cards. They were so delighted. I like to think it was an early Christmas gift for them.

I have a copy of the Flavor Bible - signed by the authors, which is the only reason I have NEW cookbooks Everything else on my wish list I pick up at used book stores and rummage sales. Far more bang for my buck plus tested by time as well.

Just saw CostCo had a 10th Anniversary Revised edition of this book. It is a great one!

I was looking for cookbook suggestions and found them here, thanks! For the person I have in mind, it will probably be either BakeWise or Jamie at Home, but I am always open to other suggestions. Likes to cook and bake, but not that adventurous.

I have both the Flavor Bible and David Burke's New American Classics on my list this year. The latter, now in publication for a couple of years, is interesting in that it offers a second day leftover recipe for each dish in the book.
