I'm running the Jingle Bell 5K at the Merchandise Mart on Sunday and as part of our goodie bag I'll receive a ticket to the One of a Kind Show/Sale. Since the race ends a couple of hours before the show opens I'd like to kill the time by eating a decent breakfast. Any suggestions either near the Mart (walking distance please - I'll be taking the L), or a couple of Brown Line stops away? I'm not looking for a hotel-style (or cost)brunch, just a good solid breakfast although availability of Bloody Marys/Mimosas would be a plus.

    Thanks!

Easily walkable up Kingsbury from the west end of the Mart if it's not brutally cold out, maybe a half mile or so walk (and also four blocks west of the Chicago Ave brown line station):

    Kitsch'n River North
    600 W. Chicago Avenue
    Chicago, IL 60610
    (312) 644-1500
    http://www.kitschn.com/k2.html

Kitsch'n River North opens at 9:00 a.m. on weekends (the One of a Kind Show opens at 10:00).

Perfect place nsxtasy! It looks like they have everything that my bunch of runners is looking for and it doesn't look like they're fancy enough to mind if we're still a little sweaty. Even better, I've been wanting to try Kitsch'n but didn't even know they had a River North location. Thanks for the suggestion!
