I haven't seen any in Chicago, most recently I saw some of these at Pumpkin Moon in Oak Park though.
One Mint Julep was the cause of it all.

I think you can usually find candy cigarettes at Mexican candy stores. Try Dulcelandia. Might as well pick up some beer mug lollipops while you're there.

Do you mean sugar candy or chocolate candy?

Any bulk candy store has them, and often malls have those type of stores. Also, try convenience stores. America's Market in Wheeling has the chocolate ones, and Ma & Pa's in Long Grove has one kind (I'm not sure which). Good luck.

There's a convience store in the building at the corner of Michigan and Adams that sells them. I saw them today. The convience store doesn't have a street entrance, but can be reached by going through the building entrance on Adams between the Au Bon Pain and the shuttered Bennigan's. It will be on your left.

It's been a year or two since I've been there, but I think I remember seeing them at the candy store at Broadway and Roscoe too.

    HI,

I saw candy cigarettes at the Home Economist in Skokie within the last year. Even as a kid, I thought the peppermint flavored candy cigarettes were a wasted effort. They simply tasted chalky, of course I still pretended to take a puff.

    Regards,

I've seen them (as well as "older" style candies, like wax bottles, dots, etc) at JB's deli:

I liked the paper-wrapped bubble gum cigarettes that had enough sugar dusting that you could lightly puff (exhale) and create a cloud of "smoke".

The gum was just a little better than the chalky candy cigarettes, as in better than the rectangle of gum that came with trading cards.

I've seen them recently among other vintage candies in the basement of the Macy's in the Loop. I was quite surprised to see that they are still being sold.

I have seen the candy sticks, though not packaged as "cigarettes". At all the 7-11s I have been to on the SW, they have the same candy sticks packaged in retro comics boxes (ie. Popeye, Tom & Jerry).
