Is there such a thing as pre-shredded beets, or am I thinking of red cabbage?
Does anyone know where to buy carrots other than orange - notably purple? I'd like to make some for Christmas but I haven't seen any at my usual produce places.

You can buy a variety of carrots, including purple ones, at the Green City Market.

I have never seen pre-shredded beets.

    Hi,

Last summer, I saw multi-hued carrots at Dominick's.

Last night, I bought purple potatoes at H-Mart for 99 cents/pound. They change color to blue when cooked.

Beets either raw or cooked are very easy to shred yourself. If there is anything remotely like shredded beets, it will be in the canned goods section.

I think I've also seen multi-colored carrots at Whole Paycheck: not always purple ones, though - often red, orange and yellow in a mix. I thought I'd seen shredded beets in the produce section somewhere unlikely like Food For Less in a cryovac package, and the Google product search brought up a canned polish version: I think Marketplace on Oakton carries that brand, at least. Worth a few phone calls.

    Hi,

Since beets bleed when cut, I would be really surprised to find them shredded ready to dump. Plus I suspect they would be rather dry and edging on tasteless. Of course, I am interested if someone has experience with this product.

You can buy sliced roasted beet in the refrigerated produce section of Trader Joe's and Whole Foods.
