I stupidly left my camera at home, so I have no photos to go with my tale, but wanted to mention how much I enjoy this event every year - good food, good company, good conversation. I was commenting to my brother as we drove home how wonderful it is to spend the holidays with "your peeps," whom you know well...even if you've met in person only a few times.

I'm glad we held out for the crispy beef, I'm with my brother - cow crack.

Thanks again to all the organizers - and my thighs and I are grateful I only eat JoelF & family's baked goods twice a year. My mouth dissents.

Very sorry we couldn't make it this year. Thanks, Joel, for taking up the mantle. Hopefully, we're back in for the 5th annual!

    Best,
    Michael

I just wanted to pipe in and say that I had a great time and a great meal - it was a pleasure to spend my Christmas Eve with everyone. JoelF, thanks for organizing this event.

A special thanks to Cathy2, who kindly gave me a ride home so as not to freeze on the Chinatown/Cermak Red Line platform! (many others offered as well - thanks to all)

Thanks especially to everyone who helped my mom get up and down the stairs!

Thanks to all for a very merry JXEiC -- I couldn't have done it without Cathy2's and Stagger's help, and without all the happy hungry folks.

One particularly nice dish last night was Chef's Special Filet of Sole with Tofu -- somewhat ma po-like with breaded fish chunks atop custardy tofu. The chicken crack was a little on the mild side, and I know Brotine and his wife were dissappointed that a dish labeled twice-fried eggplant didn't have any crispiness, but everything was delicious.

    Happy Kringle to all

    Hi,

I love this annual excuse to eat rice with the LTHforum family, before joining my family for festivities. Mr. leek suggested we try one of live frog dishes now featured on LSC's menu. Tony Hu suggested we try the double-fried turtle, because it was a unique taste not found anywhere else in Chinatown. It reminded me of salt-and-pepper style preparation with a few more chilis thrown in. No pictures though it was a beautiful memory.

Nice to meet leek's Mother who came to dinner despite the elevator not working. Our table was the last to leave waiting for the crispy beef that looked like jerky. It was no effort to wait a little while longer for someone's favorite dish they desired to try again since last year.

    See you next year!

    Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukah!

    Regards,
    Cathy2

Thanks to the organizers, a fun event, and a good meal. My favorites of the night: 3-chili chicken of course, the lobster dish, the pork candy, pork with potted herb, and the crispy shrimp with mayo.

    Happy Holidays.

Yeah, I decided mayo is OK, as long as it is crispy. I would never have tried the dish based on the name alone, but now it has joined the regular rotation.

I enjoyed dinner at this annual event... I am usually gone for Christmas, but this was a nice change of pace and better food.

Here is a link to a podcast on TED: Ideas Worth Sharing, one of my favorite websites. I just wish I had more time to watch these.

Once again, LTH events never disappoint me. It was a delightful Christmas eve dinner for a new Chicago couple. I thank Stagger and Jim and Peter for picking all the right dishes. Thanks to Cathy and Joel for organizing the event and for the nice homemade cookies.
I particularly enjoyed the nicely spicy lobster dish and shrimp with mayo. Thanks again,
