Any suggestions for Dinner tomorrow - Family friendly

My family and another family (3 kids total, ages 12 and 13) were planning on getting together for dinner tomorrow. Not thinking, I suggested Chuck's in Burbank only to find out that they were closed along with 4 other restaurants that I considered. Does anyone have any suggestions for the city or western burbs? Need to have a place that kids can feel comfortable in, preferably ethnic and interesting and reasonable (entrees $15 or less).

Need some help as I'm kinda tapped out for ideas as to what would be open on New Years Day.

That is a good question. I wish I had an answer! I'm sure things are open in Chinatown.

I will bet most of the restaurants in this thread on Restaurants open Christmas Eve and Day will likely be open on New Year's Day.

For the price range you were discussing, Sun Wah BBQ on Argyle would keep you in your price range, exotic enough to keep you entertained, little your teens could complain about and definitely family friendly.

Wherever you do choose visit, call ahead to avoid any chance of disapointment. As always, have a plan B because a line out the door discourages me from visiting.

If you really want to try new stuff, there is Afghan Kabob on Montrose just a few store fronts in from Elston.

If you do a search for 'family' for topic titles only for Eating in Chicagoland, then there are at least 14 threads to check out, with some information perhaps of use.

We had a great dinner at the Andersonville location on Christmas Day. I believe I saw a sign on the door that indicated that they would be open today. Obviously, call first.

I'd give a call to Lao Sze Chuan's Downers Grove location or Katy's Dumplings in Westmont to see if they're open today.

If you were contemplating Chuck's, then consider Szalas, which is just north of Midway. If you stick to the Polish food menu with many dishes under $10, then you will be very happy.

Can't go wrong by visiting Steve's Shish Kabob and they will be open until at least 5 today.

Call before you leave to make sure when they will close as they will be closing early today.

Not all that far away from Chucks too.

Thanks for all your suggestions - I did drive by katy's since its 5 minutes from my house and while the sign said it was open, I didn't see any lights on.

BTW, I called up my friends and they were bummed out that Chuck's weren't open so we decided to go tomorrow night instead. This is fine with me as there will be bowl games on and I have a jones for Chuck's rib tips.
