New Italian Market

Tonnini's Italian market has opened in Berwyn, on Windsor Avenue at Home. It is a reincarnation of the D'Andrea Market that used to be in Cermak Plaza. The owner used to be the manager at D'Andrea. Great deli, Italian specialties, I think they have wine now too. I love their pizza dough and frozen raviolis. Worth checking out if you live in the area.

My husband and I have stopped in several times now, sampling a few items each time. They have a nice selection of prosciutto. I am a little too thrilled to have San Daniele and tons of other goodies just a couple blocks away! Their meatball sandwiches are very good (thick sauce, 4 meatballs...not at all dainty though I eat mine with a fork) and a large serves (and stuffs) two, easily. We also tried a couple cookies...lemon knots which were not too sweet and enhanced by frosting with a nice lemony bite as well as fig with just the right amount of filling.

Our next purchase will be the XXX Hot Italian Sausage which we sampled while shopping yesterday. The heat lasted just long enough and I am thinking it will be a good addition to a quick sauce.

I surprised my dad with a cup of French onion which he scarfed down before I got a taste but he was also pleased.
