I have seen mixed reviews on La Taska in Arlington Heights. For food quality, is this a good place to eat at? I liked Meson Sabika in Naperville, but it is a bit far for me.

Has anyone been to both locations? How do they compare?

it's a solid choice for tapas in the burbs plus it does has a nicer atmosphere in downtown arlington heights (not in a strip mall like my#2). City folks will almost always make at least one comment on how it isn't BarBaReba but first time 847ers will be surprised at a new gem...

if you spell it Tasca, you will be able to use the Search feature and find plenty of thoughts on both places.

La Tasca is your best bet. I have been there over a dozen of times and never had a bad meal.

Especially if you go with a large group, get one of their combo deals. Not only is it a good sampling, but it's "unlimited". They will bring you more of anything you want, and you will WANT.

Had a wonderful meal here on a Friday night. Arrived at 6 and there were some tables filled. When we left around 7:30, the place was very busy. Parking readily found at the train station. We sat in the back room which would be my choice in the future - just seemed quieter and better suited to a leisurely meal.

Had a fantastic waitress who made 100% good recommendations - including the wine and version of coffee drink. Yellow fin tuna in pasta had an amazing sauce - the whole dish delicious. For cold appetizers - we also had the selections of meats and cheeses. The meats were good, blue and goat cheese excellent but the manchego seemed dry to me. From the hot menu, we had the brochette of beef tenderloin - it was some of the best beef I've had in a while. Also on the table was a small bowl of varied olives and a basket of bread. Each of the dishes had a small salad, roasted peppers or some other accompaniment.

These three dishes plus the drinks made a satisfying dinner and it was nice to eat so leisurely and share the dishes. I'm really looking foward to going back.

Since I saw mixed reviews for La Taska, I ended up going to a tapas restaurant which has been consistently good. We ended up trying the Sunday brunch at Meson Sabika (in Naperville). The brunch was fabulous. There was such a great variety and there was a lot of seafood. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Here is the info on their brunch: http://www.mesonsabika.com/mesonsabika/ ... runch.html

Note: they have a beautiful garden for their outdoor dining area.
