I am looking for people in Fall River MA or the surrounding cities who can help me with some Portuguese recipes from that area. Especially the breakfast pudding made with milk, eggs, sugar and flour. I do not know the exact amounts of each. If anyone has this recipe please let me know. I also would like some other recipes.

    Thank you for listening,

    J

I can't help you directly, but I have a friend/colleague from New Bedford. He's not a huge food maven/cook, but he does talk about the dishes of his youth and cooks at least some of them. I'll pass along the request and see what I get back.

I used my one connection to a genuine New Bedford Portuguese family. They didn't recognize your specific request, but sent back this, which I post for whatever it may be worth:

    Sweet Rice

    1 ½ cups rice
    6 cups of milk
    1 cup of sugar
    ½ bottle of lemon extract
    2 eggs (beaten)

Boil rice in milk (add some lemon rind) with lemon extract for about ½ hour
    Add sugar, stir
Add eggs, continue stirring for about 5 minutes
Pour contents into a large serving dish and sprinkle with cinnamon
