I hope I'm not diving into some storm of controversy here about which I know nothing, but I'm surprised not to see a thread yet on Chicago Restaurant Week. I've never partaken before, and I'm curious - as someone who most often patronizes hole-in-the-wall ethnic places and has only a handful of times in my life blown more than, say, $40/person on a meal, which of the places on the list would be most likely to give the best bang for the buck for an event like this?

There are restaurant week threads in the Events section.

See Restaurant Week ... coming to chicago and Chicago Originals Restaurant Week at Sweets & Savories.

Thanks for that. Oddly enough, what made me poke around for info on Restaurant Week was an ad in The Onion for Oceanique's Restaurant Week special. I live 2 blocks from Oceanique but have never been there, and the ad spurred me to finally go ahead and make a reservation for next Friday. I'm excited!

    Two things:

    1) Be prepared for some attitude, especially FOH.

    2) Enjoy the restaurant while you still can afford to. Normally, you can sneeze and spend $40/person at Oceanique.

This may be a dumb question, but will these restaurants allow children, specifically babies? My wife and I would like to try out a few places but probably won't have a babysitter. That said, we'd go plenty early (i.e., before 6pm) and be out of everyone's hair before 7pm. We obviously intend to call, but I just thought I'd ask the peanut gallery. Thanks.
