Great new restaurant that has been opened for about 3 months down the street from us. My husband and I have made this a regular stop for dinner on Fridays after having drinks at the Hopleaf. We discovered this place quite by accident while considering condominiums for sale above the business and are glad we did.

It has become a lovely addition to the neighborhood. Jim, Mike, and the rest of the staff are very friendly and accommodating to our needs when we are there. It is very comfortable and inviting and we can’t wait until the weather warms up and we can sit outside. Pizzas are very nice and while there is a selection of specialty pizzas on the menu, there is no problem with requesting additional ingredients to be added to your selection. I love the margherita pizza but like a little sausage on it as well and they were happy to do so. The pasta is nice…great red sauce but food isn’t swimming in it. Nice sandwiches as well that come with fries covered in a truffle oil and parmesan cheese. They also serve this appetizer called arincini (risotto rice stuffed with peas and mozzeralla, deeped fried and served with marinara) that I hear is great, but I haven't gotten around to trying it.

It's nice having a restaurant within steps from the house so I hope they do well. We went there for Valentine's Day and had a great lobster risotto dinner that came with a salad and appetizer. Dinner for three (we took my girlfriend to also celebrate her b-day)with a bottle of champagne, two amaretto stone sours, and dessert came to under $100.

Sounds like it's worth a visit and also sounds like it's not far. But we're in the Hopleaf vicinity and I've neither heard of nor seen it. Would you mind posting the basic info, like address and phone? Thanks!

It's located right next to Lincoln Towing and across the street from St Boniface cemetery. Probably not the most inviting surroundings, but the atmosphere and food are nice. My husband and I got a kick out of sitting in the window this past Saturday watching all the cars getting towed in :)

If you are a fan of the Hopleaf, then you should check this place out. Upon our first visit there, the owner Jim immediately reminded us of Mike Roper and he has the same dedication to the quality of the food that Mike had when he first decided to expand the Hopleaf by serving food.

Perhaps it is a personal preference, but I love the pizza crusts on the pizzas Jim is serving. They are crispy on the edges, thin but not too crisp. The wine list is small, but for Valentine Day, he got in some bottles of Domaine Chandon for me because I had mentioned that I have champagne/sparkling wine every week at the Hopleaf. He does serve a split size of prosecco, but it was nice of him to go the extra mile to bring in something I liked. He even discussed the possibility of getting in a few bottles of month of full size sparkling wines just so it would be available when we came in.

Again I think it is a lovely addition to the area and hope it does well.

Split size prosecco? Nice thoughtful owners? Better than average pizza in the fuzzy Uptown/Andersonville zone? I am so there . . . wait, do they tolerate children? (So I can slurp, I mean enjoy my Prosecco whilst my 6 year-old is in fascination over the dead people and their elaborate headstones.) Oh and I can explain the concept of towing too, what a party. My sons will love me.

    I am not being sarcastic.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! It is a friendly place for kids and that is nice...one of the things I miss about the Hopleaf. The towing watch was fun for us...some great cars got towed V Day and I think between the appetizer and entree we counted about 30 being brought in.

Your sons will love the pizza, but mums the word about the zombies across the street

Monticchio at 4882 N. Clark in Uptown is papered over. They had rustic looking thin crust pizzas as well as some pastas. I ate there once and the pasta and app. I tried were okay. I walked by often and never saw anyone in there, though.
