I came across this and was shocked at the cholesterol content. From what I've read, the makeup of the brain is 60% fat due to large quantities of myelin (which itself is 70% fat). Has anyone tried this stuff?

On the plus side, only 150 calories! I don't think I've ever seen an RDA percentage that high for anything on any food product before.

I am shocked that anyone has the balls to actually sell this let alone eat it

    Can anybody say LTH picnic?

Where are they selling this delicacy? I've only seen it on "what kind of people eat this stuff" websites.
Of course, I'm not at all scared of brains...but canned meat is a little frightening...

One of the seemingly odder things I eat on a semi regular basis, meaning once or twice a year, is Juanita's canned menudo. Chopped onion, hot pepper, sprinkle of oregano......hangover cure in a can.

Speaking of Armour meat in a can, I heard a factoid on a food network show I am hopping beyond hope is incorrect, Armour produces 500-miles of wieners for Vienna style wieners in a can a day.

    Enjoy,

Okay, let's figure here. How many feet of vienna sausages in the typical can-- probably eight about 2-1/2" long, so call it roughly a foot and a half. A mile would be 3,520 cans. So they're producing 1,760,000 cans a day, assuming about 270 active days a year, that's 475 million cans, which is about 5 cans per US household annually. Admittedly, my household consumption has stayed at a steady zero since Reagan was president, but someone is surely eating 10 cans a year to make up for us. So, yes, I can believe it.

Interesting to note that there are other makers of this product:

I'm with Gary: I keep a 2 or 3-can stash of Juanita's hidden away for That Special Morning when only menudo will do.

Sometimes, just for fun, I fry a bit of hominy in good grease and add it to the Juanita's as it warms. Adds a little more of the essential je ne sais quoi needed at the moment.

PS. I suppose I should also confess my semi-annual can of corned beef hash...
PPS. And I'll *never* admit to this.....
