So, I think I'm going to eat nothing but pie tomorrow. MrsF (and son) are gone for the day, I think I can get away with it.

Pizza, pot, shepherds, schaedenfreud... whatever, although I'm hoping for a really good Coconut Cream.
If I don't get out of the house before I get hungry, I may have to settle for tart (pop).
I'm considering Burt's pie for dinner (or maybe lunch), but I'm looking for other suggestions that don't involve long journeys, so north suburban pie would be ideal.

Can't think of a better excuse to bring out my last batch of frozen pie filling! We'll see how it turns out...

I am fasting today and made plans for dinner at Opera with a friend. I had pie last night, Spacca Napoli. I think going forward 2010 on I will try to recall this, I was never very good at math ;). What a cute idea. If I had kids I would be all over this for math instruction with pies for prizes.

We were definitely thinking pie, but alas by 4:00 Hoosier Mama had run out of pie. There was a two hour wait at 5:30 at Glenn's Diner (they serve Hoosier Mama for dessert), but surprisingly none at Spacca Napoli, so we go to satisfy our pizza pie urges there and even got a free mini cannoli on the way out the door. Next was a stop at the First Slice, which wasn't serving pie, but has other yummy samples out as part of an open house and the Lill Street Studios. Alas, there was to be no pie for dessert and we had to "settle" for ice cream at Margie's on Montrose, which is never a bad thing.

After facing similar disappointment over the 86'd pie at Hoosier Mama (but congrats to them on a banner first day!), we headed to the best antidote we could think of: the Saturday wine tasting at Provenance on California. Happily, they were also sampling Ruth & Phil's ice cream, so at least we got our sweet tooths satisfied.

Still vaguely crestfallen, though, it was on to New Wave Coffee, where friendly owner Zach took pity on our pie deprivation and broke out a gorgeous Sugarkist Bakery apple hazelnut crumb and served us a slice with whipped cream. Delicious! Nice buttery crust and fruit that still resembled an apple rather than being cooked within inches of its life. A perfect cap to a day that might otherwise have felt unfinished.

It's been a while since FIG hosted an LTH event. Anyone want to get together for National Pi Day? Potluck pies?

Is there a word more... emphatic... than "yes"? I think I'll go with "Indubitably!"
