I'm looking for suggestions for a place to watch the NCAA tournament on Sat. eve and have some decent food at the same time. My husband is willing to eat at Champps or Buffalo Wild Wings or someplace along those lines, but .... I'm a little more persnickety. I've been racking my brain trying to think of someplace in the city or Northern 'burbs with big TVs and good food.

I own The Hunt Club at State & Maple downtown and have just redone our burger menu and will be showing all of the Tournament games.

I like The Rail. They've got several TVs and a pretty decent menu.

I have enjoyed the tournament at Piece the last two years. It may be a little crowded on a Saturday night, but the pizza is good, the beer is better, and the televisions are several and large.

If anyone is looking for something different, like a Crawfish boil Saturday during the Tournament go to Beer, Bugs and Basketball on the Events Calendar.

I'd put in a plug for High Dive. Decent bar food, good drinks, friendly staff and does not have the "shout and squeal" atmosphere of most sports bars, which is, speaking personally, a plus for me. Also, daily food and drink specials are good.

Unfortunately, I wish I could agree about High Dive, but I can't. It's two blocks from my house and I wish it were better. My experience (after maybe a dozen times or so) is that the beer list is okay and they usually have a decent beer as the beer of the month but food is pretty bad. The burger is about the only decent thing I've had there and I've tried a few different things in the hopes of finding another option (I really want to like this place). The staff is hit or miss but I would say more on the "miss" side of things. I've had multiple bad experiences with unfriendly wait staff but I've also been there early when one of the owners was there and he was a really nice guy. The tv views aren't great either and they're not the best at keeping up to date as to what is actually on or what people want to watch - although I wouldn't call this a sports bar so I'll give a little on this topic. I will say that the music is usually okay and it's rarely crowded but there just seems to be something a little off here - so much so that it gets shot down by my friends as a local bar/food option whenever I want to try it again. Now only if Small Bar would show something other than soccer...
