Right next to St. Francis Borgia Church and across from Hiawatha Park on the northwest side, Chucho's sits on a little triangle of property where Addison and Forest Preserve Drive intersect. The building itself has housed more than a couple different attempts at fast food joints in past years, most of which I've simply ignored. But Chucho's had something special: A sign out front, lit up and reading POLISH $2.75 one night when I was really really hungry, and I've been stuck on them ever since.
They get a little time on the grill before making their way to the bun, and every time I've had one there's a nice char-y bite on them. These aren't full-on charred like, say, Gold Coast's would be, but the little bit that's on them makes a big difference. A perfectly cooked IMO Maxwell St. Polish for not a lot of cash from folks behind the counter who have always met me with a smile- it's definitely worth checking out, especially when they have these on special- otherwise they're $3.30, which still isn't awful in my mind. Both iterations come with fries.
