I have driven by this place many times, but have never stopped, I am wondering if anyone has been here, or has tried the attached reseraunt. I cnat find a website, and I have found very little info about the menu, and hours. We are planning on a visit tomorrow for lunch after a gymnastics open gym for our daughter in the area, and would appreciate any feedback.

edit: got them to fax a menu, and got their hours... open until 9 p.m. tomorrow, so we will be going for lunch.

Manilla grocery opened a couple of years ago in the old Parks/Gehrke's grocery store. I've stopped in many times and have found they have a small but well stocked selection of Asian products.

I haven't eaten in the restaurant due to my Celiac Disease but I always look at their offerings. Pork belly seems to be a common offering in the steam table offerings.

If this place is Asian, then I guess it is Filipino. I was a little thrown off because of the spelling of the place. The capital of the Philippines, Manila is spelled with one L. Please tell us how it turned out.

Stopped by around 1:00 p.m. yesterday, and found the steam table sparsly filled with some dried out looking pancit, and some other dishes. They offer a few grilled items to order, but we were not interested. My Filipina wife, and her cousin didnt even want to give the food a try, so we moved on to Naperville for a couple of lunch specials @ Lee's Chinese Garden in Naperville.

I guess we will have to wait for a visit to Filipiana in Niles to get some Filipino food.

The UniMart on 75th in Woodridge (I think) is no doubt better than what you described and seems to be in your general neck of the woods. It's part of the Chicago-area chain and has the typical steam tray/cafe setup in back. Cebu, the somewhat fancy Filipino place nearby closed. Last, the Cantonese place, Jockey, in, I want to say Westmont, had a Filipino menu. Never tried it, but the basic Cantonese items are OK. Been a while with so many truly good and varied Chinese options nearby: Fabulous, LSC, Katy's, Chinese Kitchen.
