Going to watch boxing tonight at St. Andrews Gym on Addison near Ashland. We are looking for something reletivly quick for four guys. One person does not enjoy Mexican so that is out. Any other genres are ok. I look forward to your suggestions.

Go have entirely decent and reasonably priced Neapolitanish pizza and pastas at Frasca, corner of Lincoln and Roscoe. Then you can walk up the street to St. Andrew's.

Staying on the pizza theme, you could also grab a bite at Pete's Pizza on Western. Excellent in-house made sauage and fresh ingredients in an old school environment.

To me, Pete's is just ok - the kind of square, dull Chicago-style thin crust you can get just about anywhere in the area. Far better is Cafe Orchid on Addison and Lincoln - literally a five minute walk from St. Andrews and serving up the best (IMHO) Turkish food in Chicago.

There's been some reporting on Cafe Orchid in this forum, most of it positive I think.

    Anyways,

I live down the street. Closest viable choices are Orchid (mentioned above) and Ginger's Ale House. Ginger's, an Irish pub full of Irish people, would be my choice for an undercard.

Pete's is not so close or that great, IMO. All the places omn Southport on either side of Addison are options too. Diner Grill is due north on Irving, also not a bad walk.

Count me as another vote for Cafe Orchid. Good Turkish food and a good price.

I also like El Tapatio for Mexican food, which is at Ashland and Roscoe, or Capt Nemos for soup and subs which is just north of Addison on Ashland.

Whoh, you guys are the best. The options sound first rate but I now Know that the boxing does not resume untill next week. We were scheduled to go last week, but had to change and no one read the dates correctly. Please keep up the suggestions as we will go next week.

You're only about 3-4 blocks away from Terragusto. They are not necessarily fast and it's also BYO, but if you confined yourself to appetizers and pastas (and the pastas are really why you go), and told them you needed to get in and out fast, they might be happy to accommodate you (particularly if it's an off-hour and an off-night), .
