Best Burger in the South Loop (w/parking)

Thinking about going out for a Burger for lunch this friday and as a hypetension at-risker I like to make them count. Any dynamite burger destinations in the South Loop? Large portions would be nice, though I guess I could probably just have two of them.

I guess the qualifications are, parking and a damn good burger. Clean bathrooms are preferable, though I hope it doesnt come to that.

I don't recall the bathroom situation.
I do recall the tasty burger and French fried onion loaf. Cholesterol be damned!

Agreement on Hackney's (altho Custom House can also put together a pretty good upscale burger). Forget about street parking (unless you're unusually lucky) altho there are public lots on State and Wabash and also (I think) Balbo between State and Wabash.

I would assume that the Firehouse would have a decent burger, but I've never been.

But Hackney's South Loop doesn't offer the burger on the traditional sloppy, messy, dark rye bread. Unless something has changed recently, the closest you can get to it is a dark rye bun. Not the true Hackney's experience.

Eleven City Diner, parking lot next door and onstreet parking.

Ill second Eleven City Diner. The patty melt is terrific as are all the burgers.

I like Blackie's on Clark and Polk...good quality beef, almost always dead on temp wise, and a good char flavor. There's metered parking all around and a clean bathroom (look up at the ceiling in there for a little surprise). Try the onion rings too...a little greasy but damn good...thick cut onions with a nice batter coating. Their chili is also some of the best in the city imo.

I was able to get the dark rye two weeks ago, but they also offer a rye bun. I agree the dark rye is the way to go

When I was in the area after a river cruise (boat was docked at River City Marina), we went to Blackie's and also enjoyed the burger, I think it was $8 special on weekday nights for a burger & any beer.

Another vote for Blackies. Easy parking on the same block.
