This is probably true. However, I live right next door to Evanston myself... and often when Iam at Ohare, I use it as an excuse to get the best Italian beef in Chicagoland, since I think Iam close enough to make the run to Arlington Heights and Johnnie's. Takes a little extra time, but worth it IMHO - a signifcant upgrade over Max or Roma's, to me.
Generally, when at Ohare, I have a few standards I go with (using the excuse of "Iam in the area anyway")... the first is Paradise Pup for the best burger around (though they can sometimes have too many people waiting in line), the second is Rinconcito Hispano (around the corner from Paradise Pup, if the wait is too long at PP... very good cheap and freshly-made pupusas). And the third is to take the extra time, make the detour, and grab Johnnie's (though I usually go with the beef-sausage combo.. unless its Friday, in which case its the pepper-and-egg-with-sausage combo).
Another place I tried the last couple times I was at the airport is Al and Joe's Deli in Franklin Park (was led to it by an LTH thread earlier this year)... its probably more for Italian subs and the like (which are very good),and quite convenient from the airport. When I was there they actually had a pepper-and-egg hot sandwich special, and it was very good... I havent tried their Italian Beef, but the days they have it I bet its pretty good too (most things there looked very solid).
