Has anyone been able to locate the elusive Mountain Dew or Pepsi Throwback bottles in the greater CHI area? It was supposed to be unleashed in mid-April, but I've not seen any yet. Granted, I don't get out much. But if anyone has seen any for sale, please post in this thread! I'd like to purchase some, to stimulate the economy.

It's apparently available at some Jewels.

I've seen it at the Jewel at Randhurst in Mt Prospect, but only in 12-pack cans (along with the Pepsi Throwback).
I prefer a bottle (glass would be best, but alas), and would prefer a smaller commitment than 12 cans.
[Edited - yup it was 12-packs, not 24]

I got mine at the Ashland/Roosevelt Jewel. Plenty of 12 packs of cans. They aren't making glass bottles of this stuff, just plastic and cans.

I was just at the Target on Peterson and they had both Pepsi and Mtn Dew Throwback for sale: 3 12-can packs for $10
These pretzels are making me thirsty...

I got a 12 can pack of Pepsi Throwback at Meijer in Highland, IN.

It was the only case in the store, on top of a stack of regular Pepsi - and none of the workers knew how it got there or when they'd be getting more.

i had a glass bottle of pepsi natural. i didn't buy it so i don't know where they're available, but i can confirm that they do exist. there is no label or any color on the bottle - only some lettering printed directly on the bottle. the pepsi logo is actually part of the glass.

Yes, Pepsi Natural is only available in glass bottles. Pepsi Throwback is only available in cans and plastic bottles. They're very different products, do a taste test between the two if you get a chance :)

Wow, I totally missed that there were two different Pepsi sugar-sweetened drinks now. What the hell is Coke waiting for?

Sadly, the Throwback varieties are "for a limited time only", and should be gone in a couple months. Pepsi Natural will be around indefinitely. I, too, am hoping Coke sees the light and releases its own Coke Retro. I'd be in heaven if Dr. Pepper made a permanent switch back to cane sugar -- I think they're the right brand to do it, and I think their other brands (A&W, Crush, Vernor's, etc) would be good candidates for a switch as well.

Oh man...a real-sugar Vernor's, with the ginger flavor amped back up to the cough-inducing levels like back in the day...now THAT would awesome.

That used to be a well-loved trick growing up in Michigan:
"You're from Florida, eh? Cool. Here, smell this."
*cough cough sputter cough cough gasp* "This stuff is vile! What IS it?"
"It's Vernor's. Don't you just love it?" *snicker snicker*

I bought a 20oz bottle of each from Jewel last night.

Not terribly impressed. The Dew is extremely similar to the current HFCS version, nothing about it changed my impression. As someone above said, it's still too sweet, too little nuance.

The Pepsi is a bit better than standard Pepsi: smooth, caramelly. But it's missing some essential Coke-iness. I'd still rather have an HFCS Coke than a sugar Pepsi.

Yeah, I agree with you in both cases, although the gap between HFCS coke and Pepsi Throwback is fairly narrow for me. I just had an HFCS coke and was reminded of how inferior it is.

One thing I have noticed, the Pepsi and Dew Throwback, seem to be on endcaps.
At Target , on Addison, it is an end of aisle display, not in the traditional pop aisle.

Same at Strack and Van Til's on Elston. If you don't see it, you can ask. If they know
where it is, it always seems to be in a funky location.

Thanks for the replies. I picked up a couple of 12-packs (cans) at the Kmart on Ashland & Milwaukee (the Jewel next door had none that I could find). Not quite the same taste that I recall from the big green returnable glass bottles of my youth.
