Pickled walnuts?

I'd love to use these, but can't seem to find them anywhere and don't want to spend $10 on a bottle on the 'net before shipping. Any ideas? The local British import store doesn't show them in their online catalogue.

I have seen pickled walnuts in Russian import stores. I don't know how their method of processing compares to the English.

They pickles are made with green walnuts. I'll look around for the method.

Thank you! I'm headed westerly this week, so since I'll be nearby I'll check at the Eurostyle Deli first...I can't imagine the Russian product being different.

If you google around, you can find recipes to pickle walnuts (that was, of course, my first thought) - but Cathy's right, they need to be immature.

I feel like I've seen these in some of the middle eastern stores on Kedzie. I'll check Sanabel and Al-khayam and get back to you.

Well, Marketplace on Oakton and Eurostyle Deli at least had heard of them but didn't carry them. On a whim, I asked at the Customer Service desk at H-Mart - it was amusing to see the thought "Who pickles walnuts ? move across the face of an employee whose store has an entire wing devoted to pickles (she very politely told me they didn't carry them.) I'm not sure I will have time this week to head to parts south, but am headed to Cost Plus for other things, and will check their European food imports while I'm there.
