    All,

I am looking for the the strangest preparation of bacon at restaurants within the grid. NO NORMAL BACON RECIPES. Preferably we are talking breakfast bacon (i.e. glazed, dipped, fried, etc).

    Hit me back.

I will definitely be eating it and possibly writing about it, but only if it meets the aforementioned criteria.

The famed "bacon, butterscotch, apple, thyme" (popularly known as the "bacon trapeze") from Alinea:

Edited because I forgot to mention that this was from Alinea (for the 7 people out there who might not have known already ;))

The country fried bacon at WASC isn't "strange" but if you're going to be tasting things, put it on your list.

You can try the Bacontini at Osteria via Stato or the Bacon Ice Cream at Blackbird, but I don't know if they're on the menu anymore. Mo's Bacon Bar at Vosges is something people seem to either love or hate (I love) and you can also find a dark-chocolate version at Coco Rouge.

Never fear. The Great Darwensi (whose addictive writing style on the Chicago Gluttons website is 50% hilarious genius, 50% semi-readable garble) is quite experienced at providing attribution to LTHForum.

Darwensi about a visit to Great Lake wrote:...we were possessed by Fat Kids Camp type hunger and were well aware that dining-in was going to be as competitive as getting into Best Buy on Black Friday. When we rolled in, the 14 seats were taken so we hovered over the 10 top hoping to intimidate the lions share of diners. But these heads weren’t having it. We instantly knew who we were dealing with: LTH Krew. This wasn’t just the normal LTH scene either; this was the Deerfield contingent. They were easily 6 bottles deep in vino tinto and the DSLR was getting heavy use as hot pies arrived. As they talked about “The Best Pizza In Chicago” and Fox & Obel (poor folks, no worries if you don’t recognize the name), their bratty kids sat at a two top taking their money market portfolios for granted. I noticed that Timmy had a better cell phone than I did. Fuck. An Asian cat rolled in and as Lydia rang dood up she said, “you’re that guy from downtown…”

That tears it. I was all set to to give you the absolute strangest possible bacon dish within the grid (Hint: it involves a base of squid ink/yuzu semifreddo -- but not in the way you think) but then you go and make fun of my cell phone? Forget it, pal.

LOL! Yes, that's my ass to which he's referring!

I'd read this wonderful entry sometime back and meant to post a link (but forgot).

My, more conventional take on the meal can be found here.

Actually, I think he was referring to my son's cell phone, so feel free to post away. :)

Thanks for providing that link...that was my first taste of Darwensi's restaurant reviewing style...definitely amusing. Reminiscent of Herbert Kornfeld, Accounts Receivable Supervisor (a.k.a. H-Dog, Accountz Reeceevable Supervisa):

Hey, if Bourdain can get away with taking a few swipes at an LTH pizza party, why not Darwesi?

Don't forget the maragrita made with Bacon infused tequila at Frontera. I love Bacon. But, I sure didn't love that cocktail.

BTW, Darwensi, I love the Chicago Gluttons site. It makes me laugh out loud frequently.

passed by the Bridgeport Bakery this morning and picked up some bacon rolls. It is not recommended eating 3 of the bacon rolls and a cheese danish in one sitting though.
