I'm taking my family to visit an elderly relative near there. She's too frail to cook anything or go out to a restaurant. I thought I could pick something up nearby....but I don't know where. Anyone have any thoughts?

    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the suggestions, tap and G. There's actually quite a bit out there on the SW side. Kind of makes me jealous!

There's a closer outpost at 6220 S. Archer Ave. I haven't been to that location, so I can't vouch for it.

There is a White Fence farm on Harlem, just North of Ogden. WFF is always a hit with the oldsters.

    Villa Nova Pizza

Zacatacos Taqueria on Harlem a few doors N of Pershing. I'll stand by their cheese enchiladas in red sauce, chicken and steak (char grilled skirt steak) tacos. Strong guacamole. You might wanna invest in a side of their pico de gallo. Their standard green and red salsas are very robustly flavored. Green might have Mex oregano in it, the red is a smokey roasted chile de arbol.

Tonini's Italian Market (plenty of take and heat italian foods in their fridge case)
    6950 Windsor
    Berwyn, il. 60402

Fabulous Freddies Italian Eatery (owned by same ppl as Freddies on Union in Bridgeport if that does anything for you)
    3910 S Harlem Ave, Lyons

    Right on the corner...

    Joe & Franks Homemade Sausage
    7147 W Archer Ave, Chicago
    (773) 586-0026

Mostly a deli but they do have an awesome selection of hot foods to go.

Grand Dukes Restaurant & Deli Inc
6312 S Harlem Ave, Summit Argo
    (708) 594-5622

Not too far south and they will do carryout

    El Pollo Loco
    5436 S Harlem Ave, Summit
    (708) 910-2550

I love their chicken! Also not too far south.
