This summer I am going to be spending three months living in the Seychelles (an island group in the Indian Ocean north of Madagascar and East of Tanzania). I've searched a lot online, but I can't seem to find any site that nicely explains what's in store for my culinary adventures. Has anyone been to the Seychelles, and can report first hand on its food? From what I know it seems to be swimming with fresh tuna, and other varieties of fish caught daily. The food style, "Kreole", is supposedly a combination of french and indian mainly.

To get to the Seychelles, I fly from London to Qatar first. I have a five hour layover in Qatar, and I'm not sure that its feasible to even leave the airport in that amount of time, but if anyone thinks it is, where would you eat in Qatar?

I'll post after the trip on the food in the Seychelles! I'm especially looking forward to their specialty: fruit bat!

Wow - I can't help you at all, but I eagerly await your report! (If we run into you again, don't tell Sparky you ate a fruit bat; he's always aspired to have one as a pet)

you charactorize the food correctly - it'll be sort of like indian, with a twist. can't imagine you won't like it.

in qatar, are you flying with qatar airlines? are you flying business, by any chance? the airport is fantastic, with really suburb service.

there are two choices that I would recomend for qatar - lebanese and qatari, but frankly the lebanese will be more enjoyable most probrably, if you have lebanese on a regular basis, or get to lebanon, then don't bother and stick with the qatari.

in the old market there are a few places where you can get baby camel - that is the qatari option. not bad, but a little fatty, sort of like long cooked mutton. if you want that, let me know and I will scrunge up the name of the resterant.

for the lebanese option - Layali Restaurant on Salwa Road Tel# +974 431-0005

for both you should be able to turn around in less than 5 hours, espectially if you are flying business.
