Taking my kids to see the Harry Potter exhibit in the evening, figure we'd do dinner somewhere after. I haven't been there in years, do NOT know that part of the city at all. Would prefer someplace with moderately easy parking (is that an oxymoron?), and/or anything along the route back up to the north shore.

I know the Blues Festival is this weekend, I'll probably take the Ryan to 55 to avoid the Grant Park congestion.

    Any suggestions?

The new Sit Down Cafe on 53rd street is very kid-friendly (good ultrathin pizzas, fun maki, sandwiches with homemade veggie chips), easy metered parking.

Some of the more modest, stick-to-your-ribs cooking is at Cafe Corea (Seoul Corea), though prices have gone up. But you'll be guaranteed attention from the wonderful proprietors since they can barely sit 10 people in the restaurant.

Finally, Rajun Cajun is unique. Bright colors and wonderful aromas, along with an engaging family (greeted with a wall of postcards from fans all over the world) make this a very neat place for kids. Also on 53rd. Cafeteria style.

THank you for those thread links, I should have searched Museum too.

My kids are horrible eaters (talk about karmic punishment!) but I'm going to mapquest a few of the places suggested and see where the mood takes us. Really appreciate it!

The nice thing about Ragin Cajun is that, in addition to the friendliness, the food is all visible served from hot dishes, so the kids can actually look and point rather than order blind and hope. In addition (you may already know this) because of the interesting history of the place, you can get a bit of Indian/Pak. fix for the adults, but the kids can still choose from fried chicken and mac and cheese, among other more familiar options.
