It's Father's Day on Sunday, and I'd like a good slice of prime rib. Any suggestions near Highland Park? We go to Wildfire frequently, but I'm looking for some place different. Thanks.

Hmmm. other than Morton's or The Blackhawk in Wheeling I'm coming up blank (does Pete Miller's even do prime rib?). I've never been a fan of prime rib. Love red meat, just not a big fan.

I'm not a prime rib fan but I've heard from others that Fleming's does a decent one. I was at the Lincolnshire Fleming's once, it was good.

    They've got a promo going on Sunday as well. http://www.flemingssteakhouse.com/locat ... colnshire/

I suggest Sullivan's in Lincolnshire, next to Walker's pancake house. They have a terrific Sunday prime rib special for $29, which includes appetizer, prime rib, one side, and dessert. This steakhouse does a high quality job on their beef. The only drawback may be that they don't open until 5 pm on Sunday. Their Sunday special menu is here: www.sullivansteakhouse.com/menu_full.php?mid=8.

I think that Carson's in Deerfield does a very nice job with prime rib. When I'm in the mood for it and don't feel like making it myself, this where I go because it's very close to home (and I like their salads a lot, too).

Let's also remember that some places do a smoked prime rib (Wildfire for example) while most do the classic roast. J. Alexander's does a nice roasted prime rib as well with excellent portions. They also have two prime rib sandwiches: one is an actual prime rib steak sandwich and the other is a shaved prime rib french dip that I absolutely love.

4077 Lake Cook Rd (right off I-294)

I liked Stoney River's prime rib as well near Highland Park.

I had my first prime rib this year on my birthday (as a present from my lady love) at Don Roth's Blackhawk.
Great atmosphere. Had a very old school steakhouse look to it.

The prime rib (cooked med rare) was melt in your mouth good. It comes with au jus and (I believe homemade) horseradish sauce. You have got to try both. You get three size cuts to choose from. I got the regular cut which was good enough for me.

I would definately go back when its my girlfriend birthday as an excuse to have some more of that prime rib. (Give me time to save up some money)

P.S. If anyone has the recipe for thier horseradish sauce, please let me know!!! I cant look at Horsey Sauce from Arby's the same way again!

OK, went to Fleming’s. Had a very strange experience. Got there at 6:15. When we were seated, the hostess indicated that they might be out of the prime rib. That did not make sense to us, given that it was the Sunday special, and we were somewhat early. Waiter told us that he did not know what the hostess was talking about, and that they had lots of prime rib left. All three of us ordered it, med. rare. When it came, it looked like it had been cooked on the grill (outside brown, inside red). I said to the waiter that this did not look like prime rib to me, and he responded that that was the way they prepared it. We are a very passive gang, so we shut up and ate it. It was very good. Later, the manager stopped by (to check if everything was OK). We mentioned that we ordered the prime rib, and got a rib eye steak. Manager apologized, and indicated that they did run out of prime rib (father’s day brunch was busier than expected). He indicated that he was sorry, and gave us an extra $25 father’s day cert. (good for a future visit). As I said, the rib eye steak was good, but I still upset at the way the waiter handled it. Not sure we will ever use the $25 cert.

Oh dear, Dan K I'm feeling a little bad since I was the first to mention Fleming's. How embarrassing for them, they should have comped your meal IMO.

If you care enough, I suspect they have regional people who would like to hear from you about this experience. $25 certificate there doesn't take you very far, does it?
