I am looking for somewhere to go for an anniversary dinner. Something inexpensive or moderate in price would be good.

I would like the restaurant to be romantic. Something like the outdoor dining of Meson Sabika or Geja's Cafe would be good. Does anyone know of any good Thai restaurant?

I would also like to jazz singer either at the restaurant or at a different venue. Is there somewhere good to listen to caberet music (vocal with jazz trio or quartet)? Suburbs or Chicago are both fine.

    Which is better?

    House of Blues
    The Drake Hotel
    Katerina's
    Green Mill
    Pops for Champagne
    ???

Music similar to what Petra van Nuis sings would be good.

Green Dolphin combines the two things you are looking for... decent food, usually good vocal jazz.

Don't forget Andy's Jazz on Hubbard, or the new Jazz Showcase (806 S. Plymouth)

Both great places, check schedules if you want a specific type of performer

For music, a lot depends on the specific performer. What's the date, and then we can check some of the clubs to see who is playing that night.

Where did you go when you asked the forum about romantic dining in the suburbs? What did you think of it?

When you asked for opinions about La Tasca, did you actually end up going? What did you think of it?

Seeing your follow-up to prior queries might help people make more useful suggestions this time.

If you can wait until July 24/25, Petra van Nuis will be singing at Va Pensiero in Evanston which is a very nice Italian restaurant.

Green Dolphin is currently only operating as a private event venue and is not open to the public for dinner or music.

Thanks for your help. I think that I will go back to D&J Bistro since it is budget dining + high quality food and go out for music some other time. I have had very good experiences with the lunch prix fixe menu there. I'll try the dinner prix fixe menu this time. I would really like to make it to Green Mill sometime. 7/11 is not a good day to visit Green Mill since the entertainment starts too late.
