Best Romantic Restaurants in the suburbs

I am interested in finding a romantic restaurant in the suburbs (fine dining). I prefer something in the northwest, or western suburbs.

I am already familiar with D&J Bistro and Le Titi Paris. I would like to hear some other suggestions. The food can be seafood, French, Mexican, etc.

For seafood, there are two very classy seafood restaurants in the western suburbs that I like a lot. Parkers Ocean Grill, in Downers Grove, has been around a long time. Reel Club, in Oak Brook Center, opened this year and is also excellent. I have not yet been to the Naperville location of Catch 35 but the downtown location is very good.

For French, since you like D&J Bistro, you'd probably also like Retro Bistro in Mount Prospect; it was founded by the same folks, Dominique Legeai and Masato Suzuki.

For Mexican, I like Fuego in Arlington Heights; they have very good moles (their regular one and their rotating mole of the week). I also like Flamingo's, which specializes in seafood and where the food is better and more creative then Fuego, but I would describe the atmosphere as less romantic.

Haven't been to either one of those for too long now...

A couple others in that category are 1776 in Crystal Lake, and Le Vichyssois in Lakemoor.

You need reservations as much as a year in advance, but the table inside the boat in the lobby of Port Edward in Algonquin would be another good choice.

One that caught my eye was Lovell's in Lake Forest, but I'm the ultimate space junkie.

I'll strongly second this recommendation. Our dinner on board "The Porpoise" was one of the most romantic anniversary dinners we ever had...and with the price of lobster at an all time low, dinner at Port Edward in general is probably one of the better ideas out there. Besides "The Porpoise", which as j r says is a tough table to get, there are other romantic little nooks and hideaways at Port Edward that can be reserved with much less of a lead time. The windmill is nice as are the tables overlooking the little lagoon where The Porpoise floats.

Thanks for the help. I ended up going to D&J Bistro in Lake Zurich because it looked like a good value for the food quality. We wanted to go somewhere less expensive than Le Titi de Paris.

We were happy with the food at D&J Bistro. It is a cute bistro. Since we went in the winter, the entire ceiling was decorated with paper snowflakes. The $24.00 Lunch Prix-Fixe was a great deal. I had the following: 1) raw tuna (sashimi) served with small toast, 2) barramundi, and 3) something like fruit cobbler. Since we ate there a couple of months ago, I can't remember the names of the dishes exactly.

I would highly recommend this place. Their menu changes often. I have not tried their dinner, but they have a 3 course prix-Fixe Dinner ($35.50) also. I will try to go there for dinner sometime.
