Does anyone remember a Mexican restaurant in Northbrook that (I think) was on the northeast corner of Dundee and Skokie Blvd. in what looks now to me to be a health club? Or, could it have been Lake Cook and S. B. ?
It was early 1983 and my mother and I really enjoyed it, but it really didn't last long. Can anyone remember what it was called - and anything else about it?

The building that's currently the Rehabilitation Institute (Dundee & Skokie Blvd) was formerly (I think) Olive Garden.

Garcia's is correct (it is roughly on the northeast corner of SB and Dundee behind the Marathon station that always has gas for a dime more than the Citgo on the opposite corner). Chi-Chi's was on Lake Cook in the northwest corner of the mall behind Deerbrook where the DMV is. Just as Garcia's morphed into an Olive Garden, Chi-Chi's became a Chilli's and is now a bank (surprise!). Rounding out the collection of chain or chain-esque Mexican in the area, there was a Cisco's a little further down Lake-Cook on the north side of the street before Pfingsten. It always amuses me that rather than repurpose it, a developer tore it down in order to erect an outpost of On the Border, which like all chain family eateries on Lake Cook between Waukegan and Pfingsten has since closed.

And older than dirt, too. :D

Fwiw, the only thing I remember about the food at Garcia's was their fried ice cream.
