I love Argyle, don't get me wrong. It's the commute from Oak Park that I don't like.

Anyone know where I can get Thai basil, culantro, shrimp paste and the like "over by here"?

    Thanks,

    Marc

    Just to get you started:
    viewtopic.php?f=16&t=1825.

International Club has closed. I still don't think I've gotten over it. I know there's another little Asian Mkt in a strip mall just S of Roosevelt Rd in Lombard. It's on a busy street like Meyers rd or around there. Never been in it.
DiHo in Westmont has a decent selection and is easy access for 294. So far, tho, I still stock up on jarred/canned staples and noodles at either Mitsuwa or the grocery on Lawrence/Broadway in that strip mall there or at H mart. The prices and selection are pretty tough to beat.

When they closed that Grand Mart on North Avenue in Melrose, I shed quite a few tears. The place wasn't even fully stocked and it had just about everything you would ever want.

OT, but on the plus side, there's a little Indian Grocery store on Madison in Forest Park - "Priya." S side of the st, a couple two / tree blocks E of Des Plaines. Small, but they have the standard homemade snacks (samosa, vada, pakora etc) and the standard shelf full of pre-packaged masalas, shelf stable prepared food (is ANY of it good?)
A decent but small selection of frozen stuff, etc.
