I'm making cookies for a friend this weekend, but it's going to be hot and already I'm feeling lazy. I planned on making orange, lemon, and lime dough for three separate cookie flavors. The lime is a slice & bake recipe. The lemon and orange seem to be basic rolled doughs that you cut out with cutters. Can this type of dough also be rolled into a log and sliced instead? That would also be cuter if I could get colored coarse sugar and roll the logs before cutting so the edges are decorated instead of the centers. Any advice would be nice! :)

The dough for rolled cookies is usually a bit softer and therefore wouldn't cut well from a log shape. But, you can experiment. Take your dough, put it on plastic wrap and use the wrap to help you form your log. Chill it well and slice with a VERY sharp knife or thin wire. You'll see if it works. Better yet, freeze the dough and then slice it.

    Good luck.

Life is too short, why skip dessert?
