    I am looking for any and all suggestions for ideas to take my (hopefully) soon to be fiancee tonight. I live in the Buffalo Grove Area and would prefer to stay in the suburbs.

    Here is the quick summary...

    I was originally going to take her downtown tomorrow but I have a hunch she is expecting the proposal tomorrow. So what I would like to do is take her out tonight and hopefully surprise her...

    I am looking for a very romantic restaurant in the North / Northwest suburbs to take her tonight. The only real suggestion I have gotten was "Wild Fire" and for personal reasons I would prefer not to go there.

    I know I am limiting myself BIG TIME by trying to do this the day of but I figured I'd give this a shot.

    Please... Any and All suggestions of a very romantic restaurant in my general area would be very appreciated.

    I vote for Le titi de Paris over D&J Bistro for a proposal. I have been to both restaurants.

    I too have been to both restaurants and would also vote for Le Titi de Paris. Definitely.

    I have also been to Port Edward, and would NOT consider it appropriate even if it were convenient to Buffalo Grove (which it isn't).

    Another vote for Le Titi (and let them know, and they'll do something fun for you). They can also make sure you get a quiet table of booth, rather than putting you in the middle of the room.

    Another option is Restaurant Michael in Winnetka. Great French food, elegant decor -- though not as much opportunity for that quiet table.

    If it's not too far, think about Jilly's - small, french-ish, very good.

    I actually gave my proposal ring to my wife in Titi de Paris, so it seems that it might work for you too, I put the ring in the dessert.

    Once again... Thank you ALL for your help & suggestions!!!

    So I decided to go to Karma in Mundelien. This place was quiet the scenery was outstanding and the food was excellent. Right after dinner and before the dessert I was talking to her about how much I loved her and what I loved about her. She said it was so sweet and asked if she could give me a hug. When she stood up to give me a hug I bent down on 1 knee and proposed.

    After the tears and her nerves got in control... I was lucky enough to get a yes! :D

    All of the recommendations were great and I thank you all for helping me on such short notice!

    Quick Side note....

    Le Titi de Paris is her favorite restaurant! The only reason I did not want to take her there is because I was worried that she would suspect something. :wink:

    Looks like I'll be the only one to suggest not proposing at a restaurant. It's so cliche and then you have an audience too. So movie-like. I proposed while we were alone on a beach at sunrise - perfect setting :)

    Masi79 - Congratulations! Enjoy this wonderful time, especially before the wedding madness begins, and your fiancee brings 43 wedding magazines into your apartment. :D

    Sorry, I didn't realize it was after the fact.

    And mine wasn't in Chicago, it was Akumel, Mexico. Not quite common.

    Anyway, not raining on any parades.

    That you didn't realize it was after the fact does not take away from the unnecessary pissiness of your post or the fact that a proposal on a beach is not made more creative because said beach happens to be in another country.
