    Dear LTHers,

Here's another challenge that I am sure you all are up to. My wife and I have our 10th wedding anniversary this October. I've been thinking about having a medium/small celebration with the people who have really helped us make it through 10 years. The "theme" for a 10th anniversary is tin(with a modern nod to aluminum). So, the challenge is, a moderate, good restaurant that can accomodate 10-20 people in a group with some prominent aspect of the restaurant related to tin and/or aluminum. Yes, I've already thought of Tin Fish, which we really like, but its suburban locations make it geographically undesirable (nevertheless, it may be the pick). But, a tin ceiling? Prominent use of metal in the decor? Pewter dishware? Let me know what you all think, and thanks!

Tin ceiling makes me think of the Gage as well as Publican. Prominent use of steel/aluminum look says Moto to me.

Ha, we just went to Publican for our 10th, and didn't even think of that!

Well, the Publican would be great for me (I love it), but we went there for Father's Day and the wife, not so much. Gage has tin ceiling? That could work. She's been there and liked it fine, as I recall. Any good neighborhood places out there with tin/aluminum? I remember admiring the tin ceiling at Silver Cloud in Bucktown, but I think I'm too old for that place now.

I think The Firkin in Libertyville has a tin ceiling, if that's not too far north for you.

I have a non-restaurant idea for you, though. How about a party at home for you and your wife and the people who've helped you make it through the first ten years: a picnic theme, inside or out depending on the weather, several picnic-style dishes cooked in and/or wrapped in tin foil, and on the same table but separate from the food items, a present for your wife wrapped in tin foil rather than regular gift wrapping, and take-your-pick presents for each of your guests also wrapped in tin foil (for surprise effect).

Do you like this idea at all? I do! Now I have to wait seven more years to try it out myself!
