A couple of yelp posts seem to indicate that Hourglass bar has changed ownership.
Does anybody have a recommendation for a similar place where you can have some awesome chicken, in an interesting atmosphere and a few drinks?

Thanks- missing bon chon from NYC!

Mentioned on LTHForum as well with the, seeming incorrect, info that it will reopen December 1 at 9850 N Milwaukee in Des Plaines.

Far as replacement for Filipino style fried chicken coupled with unique Hourglass atmosphere I suggest petitioning Carol's Pub to start serving Filipino fried chicken. :)

    Enjoy,

I'd like to know too. Kinda like Baden Baden on 32nd st in NYC? When anethnic neighborhood like K-town in NY is all concentrated in a couple of block region, it's easy to find something you want by just being there expecting it to be there. Of course, it helps that K-town in NYC is a hopping nightlife spot as well.

The first Chicago location of Bonchon, the Korean fried chicken chain with the cult following, plans to soft open next week in Chinatown Square mall, said owner Kenny Chen.

I noticed in an Eater Chicago post from two days ago that, among the 20 planned Chicagoland Bonchon locations, the one in Glenview will be at 1615 Milwaukee, the address of the collection of businesses that includes So Gong Dong, where the LTH North Lunch Group ate last week.

There's already signage, on what was previously WoodGrain Pizza, one of the many quick-custom pizza places that sprung up in the last few years. They're only two miles away, and I'd never eaten there. I was going to finally try it, when I found they were closed, and that's when I first went into So Gong Dong.

Anyone know if Bonchon in Chinatown is open this weekend? Was thinking about going there to check it out.

Not sure if this is indicative of the entire franchise, but my one experience at Bonchon in Chinatown was extremely underwhelming. The signature item is greasy, poorly fried wings so lightly sauced such that you can't even discern the difference. The sides were similarly bad, with the "pickled" daikon being an abomination.
