I am graduating from law school and am looking for a place to have a post-graduation party for about 15-20 people. I am looking for somewhere fun and casual. Any suggestions?

    Congratulations, Bleu!

Real Tenochtitlan has a nice private party space and very good food, it could be a good option for you:

You know, I was just having a discussion with some friends about needing a place for a very large gathering that would allow you to bring in food. We were thinking somewhere with a bar - anyplace you can think of with a large private room, or that would close down for a large group?

Thanks for all the suggestions. The Real Tenochtitlan sounds good. i will look into it. I am also considering Chicago Brauhaus, El Mariachi (although I'm worried about parking), and Irish Bistro. I really like the idea of margaritas and the liveliness of a latin place.

Ben Pao has some really nice group dining options. Check out there lunch and dinner menus available for groups of six or more.

Moon Palace in Chinatown. We went after I was sworn into the Bar. I do have a history of choosing places like this. When I graduated from Graduate school we did Cafe Bolero. It was the weekend so many in the party had the Paella. When I graduated from undergrad (ages ago) we did Cross Rhodes in Evanston and Ofame (now gone, unfortunately) in Lincoln Park.

What kind of food do you like? Are there any folks who are not terribly adventerous in your party (relatives from a small town who have no idea what natto is :? ) What about folks with special needs like wheel chair access?

Just wanted to chime in on Real Tenochtitlan as a fantastic place for a large group. I set up a birthday party there for my wife this weekend and we were greatly rewarded with excellent food, good service and a really nice atmosphere. We had about 30 of us including kids and there was plenty of room for us to move around and talk. Did some family style apps and chicken with both Mole Negro and Mole Verde with tortilla, rice and some veggies for an entree. They let us bring our own cake and of course our own wine and beer. Worked out a very fair price with them ahead of time and they were extremely accommodating. Everyone walked out of there psyched and stuffed. I really can't recommend this place enough for a large group outing. Looking forward to getting back with just my wife to dig further into the menu.

Mhays--when you say very large...what number are you thinking of? I have used Glascott's Bar for large parties in the past 50+people and you can cater in your own food or get a package from Athenian Room next door (best greek fries in town).

Actually, that was a teaser for the LTH Anniversary party, which was held at Weegee's. Thanks for the info, though - it's something that comes up often, and this thread is very useful.
