    Lthforum,

I have meant to write long ago about a coffee shop and roasting operation that opened a year or so ago up in Wilmette. At the beginning I did not know what to make of it... Is it here to stay? But, I have happily come to the conclusion now that The Alchemy Coffee House is the one of the best hidden secrets (for coffee lovers) in the north shore.

It is a tiny operation, the ``store'' part being no larger than 12'by6, where you get a view of the roaster in the back room, handled by one serious coffee
master doing a good job bringing the bean to its full glory. The selection of coffees is listed on the website below.

In addition, Alchemy has SCONES... buttery, crispy, and fantastically delicious. Wow~. Perhaps better than Kim's...

This is a great addition to that part of Wilmette where now you can have breakfast at the fantastic Mrs D's Diner and then head over to Alchemy for a double espresso
with a fresh from the oven extra crispy apricot scone :P

One of my co-workers brings us holiday gifts of this coffee. I've enjoyed it.

Another top contender in the Wilmette coffee house race is Link's Sweet Bean which hits all the independent coffee house high notes. Coffee roasted in-house, baked goods made in-house, free WiFi and very friendly staff. I've been three or four times, it is next door to the Backyard BBQ Store, and if it was closer to my house would be a regular.

    Enjoy,
    Gary

I recently toured the Blue Mountain Coffee factory in Jamaica and i'm here to tell you there is no better coffee in this world. Don't be fooled by the Blue Mountain blends they sell up here which like Kona blends usually only consist of about 8.5 to 10% real Blue Mountain Beans..If you haven't already, I strongly suggest you try Fresh 100% Blue Mountain beans..Once you do, you'll never go back to Folgers..That I assure you.
