Have some friends coming into town August 8, meeting some others for dinner then to a friend's place for dessert and watching the fireworks from Navy Pier. The one who lives in that LSD condo suggested O'Briens for the outdoor seating, reasonable prices (??) and casual atmosphere.

Last LTH post about O'Brien's was years ago. Looking for suggestions for someplace in that general vicinity (we'll be parking at the condo, around 1500 N. LSD I think, and walking to dinner) that's casual, reasonable, will take an outdoor reservation for 6-8 people on a Saturday night. I haven't been to OBriens in years so have no sense of whether this is the best we can do.

    Thanks for any recs.

    Perennial?

I don't know too many places that take reservations for outdoor tables, though.

If O'briens is the old Howards, they demolished that building about a year ago.

They had good burgers, tho. Always liked the little packet of M&Ms served with 'em as well.

I don't think it is the same O'Briens. This one is on Wells just south of North Avenue, if I recall. But thanks for looking.

You're right - the old Howards became O'Neil's that was on Ontario at Michigan. Whoops.

Well, if your parameters are LSD/North Ave./Wells/Grand, the choices, depending on price point and desires are immense. Coco Pazzo Cafe and Quartino come to mind but that's just a start.
