Caliente/Leon might close earlier too; just a warning. i know Asadas closes at 8, not sure about Palapita or the others. As most know Pasadita closes real late

Thanks for taking one for the team RAB, its a truly noble cause!

I did the math and six 1/3 pieces equals 2 whole burritos consumed over what will take at least 3-4 hours to complete. I know I can pull it off, and so can my son. Its not something we would do everyday, but this is in the name of science!!

I'll bring a couple of small cutting boards & kitchen knives to cut them up with, along with a box of restaurant shrink wrap for anyone needing to wrap up any leftovers.

As to how we divvy it up? I'll figure it out there with our moving buddy Jim & Andrew!!

When this thread was first created I took a look and the date was the 15th and the list of restaurants, 5. Checked the date and I was unavailable.

New date is on my Birthday and I traditionally keep that day open. I usually have something in mind to do during that day and almost always it is food centric.

I had a few suggestions to move the grocery store taquerias to the front since they tend to be lunch places and may not be open as late as I have them scheduled. Make sense to me!

if we need to start earlier & hit the market type places first that works for me. I see a few of the options have later night hours especially on Saturdays
which helps.

As one of the folks suggesting a revision to the schedule, I'm in favor of eating at Guanajuato and Tierra Caliente as early as possible. These places will be at their best during the lunch hour. If we can't start the crawl MUCH earlier, than I'd suggest at least flipping the schedule a bit to visit these groceries earlier. These two groceries, Pasadita, and Asadas are quite close to each other.

Also, there's just no way it will take four hours to visit these four as the only place we'll really be sitting down is at Pasadita, and that's only if we choose a sit-down location.

Peoria opens at 6am. Hot Doug's opens at 10:30am.

Why not start the crawl at 11:30am? If Jim can get to Hot Doug's early enough to not wait in a long line, 11:30am should work.

ronna, hot dougs isnt a must do for me, if the crawl started later I was going to squeeze it, but not that close to eating burritos.., . Since I live so far out I like to, try to combine alot of stops when I come into the city.

I am flexible, and I will go with the flow, its a Saturday and I have a free pass from the wife, so I am making a day of it no matter what.

Sorry to have been absent for much of this afternoon's discussion, but I was stuck at the DMV & running errands.

11 AM is just way too early for me, I'll be driving down from Gurnee, and while I'm about 15-20 miles closer than Jim, I still have a hour+ drive to get down by Wicker Park for this event.

That being said, I got the feeling that everyone else is cool with an earlier time, so I propose 1 PM.

Please let me know if 1 PM works for each of you so I can update the guest list accordingly, thanks!

Now since we would be starting at Carniceria Y Taqueria Tierra Caliente which is two blocks north of La Pasadita, this reroute actually makes for a nice loop and we end up the crawl very close to the starting point, which is nice for carpooling. Based on the 1 PM start and the two re-routes, I am posting a new map with the changes. Also bear in mind that the Hop-leaf meet & greet had to be tossed out, or perhaps can be moved to afterwards. Jim: I'll let you be in charge of drinks!

Lastly, a quick note about the spacing and timing; I have tried to allow for 45-50 mins at each stop for parking, talking and eating etc.. But I also dont want to try to cram the tastings any closer together, since this will be such an eating intensive exercise, and some digestion time in between each should be allowed!

it will give me time for a snack in the city, as well as to pick up a couple boxes of hot links @ Peoria Meat packing.

Ill also probably find a bar to hang out at near the first stop, park the vehicle there, and walk over.

My Bride and I are still tentatively in.

The 1:00 start suits us just fine.
