Barring weather complications, Mrs. Roadhouse and I plan to start the afternoon at the Korean Fest up on Bryn Mawr and finish the day at the Ginza Holiday until they close at 6:00. I will vouch for the amazingness of the teriyaki chicken. In fact, the current incarnation Midwest Buddhist Temple building is known as "The Buddhist Temple That Teriyaki Built." Just watching the grilling process is a thing of wonder and beauty!

Just for some incongruity, they're sponsored in part by Kow Kow.

Now I have to choose between the free downtown performance of the Selfish Giant, Ginza Fest, and the Korean Fest tomorrow. We can try for two, but certainly can't make all three...

    Thanks for the heads-up, Beef!

    General info:
    Friday, August 7th, 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm
    Saturday, August 8th, 11:30 am - 9:30 pm
    Sunday, August 9th, 11:30 am – 6:00 pm

Donation of $4 for adults, and $3 for students and senior citizens collected at the gate. Children under 12 will be admitted free when accompanied by an adult.

Stopped by yesterday for some Chix-Teriyaki. Same as it ever was. They do half chickens cooked basically in the form of Jerk, when done they chop it up and a half chicken comes with rice and cole slaw. Unless Kow Kow cooks their teriyaki chicken over glowing charcoal briquettes they have nothing to do with the food whatsoever. Its also sponsored in part by Aloha Eats, Sunshine Cafe and Twin Anchors. All they have food wise however is the teriyaki, corn on the cob, udon and sushi.

    HI,

Thanks for the report. I had friends going over there after Culinary Historians. I was wondering if I was missing out on a culinary excursion, but not from your description.

    Regards,

Sorry, didn't mean to imply anything about the food quality, just the name popped out at me. I'm sure they are sponsors because the Kow Kow family is connected to the temple, not because the temple has a business arrangement with the restaurant.

The chicken was good, if somewhat short of revelatory. Maybe I'd feel differently if I'd gotten mine fresh off the grill, but it had definitely been sitting there a bit. If you go, watch out for that. Coleslaw is a tiny portion of food service product. Still a good time, if you factor in all the other stuff there.
