It's the best food in Vegas.

    Interesting.

Though the link you post raises a few questions. Your picture seems to show an Italian Beef sandwich yet the linked menu doesn't show any sandwiches except hot dogs (lots of varieties). Do they serve Italian Beef?

The initial link shows an address in Henderson. Subsequent poking around on the site, like "Locations", then shows only an Orlando location. I'm guessing your pictures depict the Henderson location?

Finally, it appears their home page has been hacked (so who knows what else has been munged as a result).

If it was on the Strip I'd be inclined to visit for a good hot dog but I doubt I'll drive to Henderson. Still, good to know.
Objects in mirror appear to be losing.

The strip is not for us...Try Lake Las Vegas..5, 5 star resorts, with world class golf courses..And yes,. the beefs are as good as it gets..Henderson..

I went to this place once, on my way to a fried chicken place that was supposed to be out that way. I think I posted about it back in the Chowhound days. It's run by a Chicago expat. All the fixens are authentic, as sold by Vienna. It was a skinless dog, as I recall. It was a perfectly nice Chicago hot dog stand. Nothing earth shattering. If I lived in Vegas, I'd probably be a regular. Since I live here, where much better dogs are available, I haven't found a reason to return.

Hey Silas, have you seen this thread?

Bread's all wrong on the beef, but that always happens. That's why sandwiches don't travel. Dead ringer for a beef stand that could be on Western somewhere, though.

What's the Swiss cheese dog angle? I like innovation, but I can't figure out why BEST FOOD IN VEGAS keeps such an unusual hot dog topping in stock for one item -- the Swiss cheese dog. I wish the Rabbi were still around and out there to investigate this.

PS, I take back my comment. I now see that they carry the standard rueben dog, which always has Swiss. Sorry.

Vegas realtors, already in severe pain, would cringe at the thought of Henderson becoming "Vegas".

    17 miles off the trip...

Vegas franchise of Grimaldi's, opened since '07, is only 10 minutes away.

Is it worth going to? Any other vegas tips from the inimitable TonyC? We're headed out there in September, and besides Raku, another trip to Craftsteak, and probably lunch at Rosemary's, we haven't decided on any meals.

    Ed,

If you've got a car and are loking to get off the Strip, I'd recommend heading towards Summerland and duplicating this day trip. It's worth it for both the scenery and the food.

We actually did nearly that on our last trip, although we only stopped at Salt Lick before heading to Red Rock. It was great, though. We're considering heading up to the Valley of Fire state park this time.

If you are planning to drive to see the Red Rock Canyon or the Valley of Fire, it is a good time of year to visit as it is less crowded during the summer months than the rest of the year.

If you are planning on doing any hiking this time of year, get there at dawn when the temperatures are not as oppressive and carry tons of water as you will need it.

I would also recommend the Hash House (not the a-gogo) as a good alternative. Sorry Steve, thought the quality and people made the difference for me. All the jelly (jam) choices are nice...not that I used them, but just a little extra *umph* but everything was just "right". The A-Gogo seemed more like the Machine Shed of LV to me...the food was certainly better (although I still like the MS porkchop)...but too "packaged" for me. Just another data point...

No need to appologize. The a-go-go is a novelty act to be sure. Where is the non-a-go-go Hash House?

I hated the Salt Lick at Red Rocks...I got a half a chicken and it was small, and it tasted like a baked chicken...Nothing special..And it was expensive..I like the pool there so we stay there ociasinally but the 24 hours of pounding thumping jungle music drives us insane..If you like nice, and don't want to go the whopping 17 miles to Lake Las Vegas try the Rampart in Summeline..It's very laid back and high class...Me and little precious always get a room with a private pool there

Try Micheals at the South Point..They have like 10 tables, and you get 6 waiters, 3 of witch never leave the table, so you know it's good.

Was back early this year so had to look it up, but the Hash House is at 2605 S Decatur, it's just off Sahara and windows are covered with pictures of food, so not too hard to find. It is only open early...closing at 2 I think.
