Trying to decide which one to go to...I've done the research on both places but would like some feedback as to which one people would choose if forced to. I'm leaning towards Mixteco. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

I like both a lot, so it would be a tough choice, but I think Mexique offers a somewhat more unusual experience, at least in Chicago. I was suspicious of Mexican-French "fusion," but the folks at Mexique make it work.

Never been to Mixteco, but I love Mexique. Creative dishes, great flavors, wonderful chef.

FWIW: Mixteco is BYO, and Mexique is not.

Why choose? Check them both out.

I have not been to Mexique but Mixteco is stellar. We went a couple of Sundays ago for the first time in a while with a first timer who loved it as much as we did. And the tab for three was $70 after tax but before tip. Raul has been coming up with some new dishes. I had a scallops in spicy brown sauce, my wife an improbable sounding but eerily delicious chile relleno tamale, which is what it sounds like: a tamale filled with a chile relleno.

Having just been to Mexique last night (I'll write more later, I promise), I definitely throw my hat in the ring for Mixteco. I didn't hate Mexique, but I think the flavors are more vibrant at Mixteco. Also, my dining companion who expected Mexique to be more upscale Mexican than French was sorely disappointed. I think the experiences are really quite different - Mixteco is a vibrant, fun, lively space with an upscale Mexican menu and BYOB (as happystomach noted). Mexique is a more subdued, beautiful, tranquil space with French focused food that contain Latin ingredients and touches (I thought the wine list was boring and overpriced).
