If forced to choose, which one would you go to? I'm trying to decide on dinner tonight and am having a hard time. I care only about which has the best food.

If alcohol or ambience are factors at all, Semiramis is the easy choice. If all you care about is the best food, choose Salam.

I would also choose Salam. A couple suggestions. The hummus is out of this world. I recall they have a sampler platter that comes with a varied selection of appetizers and I would recommend that as well.

Between Dawali and Salam, I may be in the minority in preferring Dawali but you won't go wrong at either place, although I prefer the ambiance and service at Dawali. But I agree with Kennyz that if ambiance or alcohol is required, you'll be better off at Semiramis. Semiramis also has a more diverse menu.

I'm a fan of Salam, like Semiramis quite a bit, roast chicken with garlicky toum is a favorite, and am becoming a Dawali regular.

Let me toss another Middleastern into the mix, Al-Khaymeih, ambiance on par with Semiramis, diverse menu, love the grilled cornish hen, and BYOB.

Semiramis and Al-Khaymeih are BYOB, Salam and Dawali no liquor at all.

    Enjoy,

Thanks for the feedback...I had an excellent lunch at Dawali. Planning on going to Salam. I'm hoping Semiramis doesn't start to falter with all the buzz it has been getting...prices have been steadily going up there.

Semirimis is a staple in my week. It's one of the few healthy fast food (take out is SUPER fast) options, and I hit it up on my way home from the gym at least once a week. The Chenjeh sandwich with garlic mousse is ridiculous and the baba ghannouj is some of the best I've EVER had.

    pigout,

Glad to hear that you enjoyed dinner at Dawali.

In the future, for thread continuity I'd recommend avoiding overuse of the edit button, and suggest that you instead add clarifying statements later in the thread. If you are going to edit anyway, it would be good to state within the original post what the edits you made were. Since your original post did not include Dawali, and you had not noted at first that you care only about the best food, some of the early responses (including mine) now seem out of place or misleading.
