One thing that I learned from the taco crawl that the passion for the salsa was almost as strong for the meat.

The categories were Taste, Char (being the subject of the crawl), Freshness and Value.

I was just winging it. :) Afterwards I thru the results into a spreadsheet and averaged and Voila! A winner. :)

Things are looking good for Saturday. :) We have a tradition of making birthdays a weekend event (Birthday Festival Weekend) and I have been able to move most of the activities to Friday or Sunday.

Standing at 95% right now which as good as a 'Will Attend'.

I guess I have changed my mind, the scorecard method looks interesting, and thorough. A good way to perhaps get a concensus.

I would be glad to fill one out if they are provided.

I am kind of bbq'd out right now(planned it that way with the 3 day smoke-out this past weekend). Im kind of glad for a week off(typically I would be already planning what I would be smoking this upcoming weekend).

I have checked out Danny's smoker, and tasted some smoked turkey I think he put in a gumbo the last time I was there. He knows what he is doing thats for sure. It will be purely liquid visit unless I cant get a snack before heading in.

I think I'm going to have to drop out. Foot/leg problems are pretty bad this week and even if the rest of you were truly crawling I don't think I could hop fast enough to keep up. I'll watch for the posting of the results, and I'll have to check out the spots on my own some other time.

My boy and I are still tentative but it'll probably be a game time decision on Saturday. We'll either be at the first stop, or we won't. If you need to know more definitely than that, please let me know. It's the last Saturday before school starts and we're just back from vacation, so things are a bit chaotic around here

I've been talking to my wife and we both hope to join you for this, but it's a little bit up in the air because she's working on Saturday. She might get out at noon, or she might not get out until hours later if a large number of consults are called.

With any luck we can make it, and in time to make the first stop. If not, I still have Panther's cell number from the steak taco thon, so if it's alright with him I'll call if we're running late (but not so late as to make it pointless) and verify where the crawl is at.

    Hey all,

What is the usual protocol for transportation on one of these events? Neither my girlfriend or I will have a car, so we'll need to ride along with someone. We'll be able to make our way to the first stop and from the last stop, as I live nearby. Is anyone else carpooling? Let me know.

Excited and nervous about this event (especially meeting all of you).

I've come down with my 2nd cold* of the summer somehow. Been fighting it for two days now, and I thought I'd be fine, but it's gotten worse. I still might show since I have never been to the first four (except for Asadero) and I'm just looking for any excuse to try em, but it ain't looking good. I'm gonna go get on the bike, and then take another sauna to sweat it out. If I show, I'll be at spot number 1 ON TIME. Don't wait up for me.

*It's probably really a flu - a common cold would normally not slow me down one bit.
