Proposed itinerary (in order). This route minimizes doubling back, but can be modified:

    1) Buona Beef, Hillside Opens at 10:30 am
    2) Carm's, Hillside Opens at 10:00 am ? miles from Buona
    3) Johnnie's, Elmwood Park Opens at 11:00 am
    4) Frannie's, Schiller Park 3/4 miles to Jay's
    5) Jay's, Schiller Park I can't remember when Jay's and Frannie's open, but they're both before 11:00 am.

Buona could be changed from #1 to #3 as there is also a Buona ? miles east of Johnnie's.

Keep in mind that during lunch hour parking will be difficult at Johnnie's and there will be a long line to get in. Best to visit Johnnie's before 11:30 or after 1:30.

Going to all the above will probably take 3-4 hours.

Starting time? Last year we started at Al's around 10 or 10:30. In an earlier post DDickson suggested starting at 10 am. I was thinking of 10:30 because it's a bit further from breakfast, and I don't want to walk into a place as they're opening the doors. Give them a chance to get set up.

However, I'd hate to deny VI and Hat the pleasures of a full beefathon, so we could start at noon. Would a noon start mean the Beefathon runs too late for some?

Comments please. What works for the majority? :?:

The consensus seems to be start at 10:30 am. That's fine by me.

If you don't mind, I'm going to propose one slight change to the schedule. Instead of Buona's in Hillside, let's start with Carm's at 10:30, go to Johnnie's, then Buona's in Oak Park, followed by Frannie's and Jay's as before.

My reason is that this way we get to Johnnie's earlier -- probably about 11:15 or so and avoid the worst of the lunchtime rush. It means a little backtracking (East

    iblock,

I'm will edit the title to reflect 2004, I read the subject line and thought there was a Beef a Thon Thursday as well.

We should meet Thursday at Al's on Taylor for a beef then walk across the street to Mario's for an Italian ice. A micro Beef a Thon. :)

    Enjoy,
