I'm looking for a spot to catch up with a friend and engage in conversation without a thumping bass note in my ear.

    Thanks!

I can't speak to the atmosphere or quality because I've only seen it on Check Please, but I believe OYSY is now in Oakbrook Mall.

Other options are Kona Grill just up the road at the Oakbrook Promenade or RA Sushi in Yorktown Mall outskirts. Momotaro is just up the road also.

I've not been to any of these. Just letting you know that those are the choices.

I've been to just about every sushi place in the vicinity, and OYSY is my pick. Quality is better or equal to everywhere else, the portions of nigiri are generous, and it's a bit less expensive to boot. I'm encouraging everyone I know to go there and go there often because every time I've gone it's been virtually empty.

In addition, there's also this place nearby:
    Bistro Nami
    439 Ogden Ave
    Clarendon Hills, IL 60514

My pick would be for Either Sushi Nest in Elmhurst or Sushi House in Westmont. No loud bass sounds.

    Regards.

There's a Kyoto Sushi on Butterfield and Finley in Downers Grove. I used to go there for lunch sometimes but it's probably been at least three years. The food was good back then but the service was a little slow for a work lunch place.

    Kyoto Sushi
    1408 Butterfield Rd
    Downers Grove, IL 60515-1031

Thank you for all your rec's. . . of course, there was an audible called at the last minute and we ended up at Sushi Nest . . in NAPERVILLE.

Solid dinner, but nothing mindboggling. Highlight of the night was the "super white" sushi, which is juicy to the point of saturation, and has a fresh and sweet taste.

    You mean the poisonous escolar?
Just kidding. There's a lot of controversy surrounding "super white tuna." Read up on it. I love it, myself.
