An earlier post in this thread seemed to imply that this was not the place to RSVP for the picnic, so I've been waiting for the proper moment and place to say, "I'll be there." I guess things have evolved and this thread has magically become that place. So let me say, "I'll be there."

Looks like we're short on sides so maybe I'll focus on that. I love corn and corn dishes (last year's elote casserole seemed to go over well), so I'm thinking this year I might make up a big ol' batch of maque choux.

Not sure if Mrs. Roadhouse will join in the festivities, but you never know.

    Buddy,

There was a thread started months ago asking people to save the date. It was knocked off when this invitation post was initiated a few weeks ago.

    Phil,

Thank you for generously bringing your klose.

    Regards,
    Cathy2

I'll be there as well, perhaps with my wife (depending on whether the garden needs her). We will probably be bringing a salad.

That's what happened! I was wondering.

I too thought I had thrown my cow into the ring. :)

My Bride and I would love to have the pleasure of attending again. Had a great time the first year and missed last year.

Thinking about making a bucket-o-jerky. As always, sounds like a great time! Thinking about giving some Jamaican Jerk Jerky a try too. :) Jerk Jerky. Heh, heh. Sounds funny.

it looks like there are enough grills being brought down, and since I was just bringing mine for others to use, and I wont be getting down there until 11:30ish, I wont be lugging mine along.

FYI - Gary thought the klose and a few grills would be ideal.

At this time, I have 3 people who are not bringing a grill who have asked for grill space, and we do have several grills listed (keep in mind that Khaopaat's is not a grill but a camp stove) However, I'm guessing that those who have signed up to bring a grill are also planning a dish that needs grill space that we haven't accounted for yet...

You are correct. At this point, I'm not sure how much time I can pledge to others on my grill or more importantly, when during the event that time will be. That said, once I'm done cooking my stuff (whatever it is I end up bringing), the grill will be open for anyone to use. Also, in case I did not state it clearly up top, I will also bring a large bag of lump charcoal.

I need maybe 1.5 hours of time on a grill to smoke my chicken. Is it possible to get some grill space? I can cook the chicken pretty much anytime throughout the day. I will be bringing a cooler and hardwood charcoal/wood chuncks.

We'd like to attend as well (me, plus husband, plus baby - who will bring his own food).

I'll be bringing a chocolate tart, in a chocolate crust - and something else...

Would people be interested in a tray of links from Honey 1? Or is there enough BBQ going on already?

Same, re. our stove. It's a two-burner propane stove that will have a cast-iron griddle over both burners. We'll have plenty of propane on hand (I'll probably buy a 6-pack of the 16oz canisters, as I'm a student of the "too much is better than not enough" school).

I would imagine that they'll be plenty of room in the Klose for anything that needs to be smoked.

Okay, I will be making pastrami a la Extramsg.

Because I was concerned that there might not be enough dishes built around a 14-lb. slab of meat.

Others things may get made too, you never know.

Well, shoot. Once again this year, I feel it prudent to bring something tasty yet practical. It'll be some sort of vegetable terrine [think baked, layered zukes & eggplant & tomato & fresh herbs & maybe potatoes]. Patricia Welles 'Bistro Cooking' has something that I've made before and liked a lot. And it would be good accompaniment to all of the grilled meat.

However, I'm noticing an alarming absence in the list.

    IS THERE NO BEER?

Because if there isn't, never mind the stupid vegetables, THAT'S what I need to bring.

Eh. Glass. Thanks for reminding me again.

    Veggies are in.

Last year, didn't we arrange in advance to chip in for a keg? Jim the Beer Guy did the set up honors, iirc.

Look! I'm waving money in the air to chip in!

[If I didn't have a beeyotch of a work schedule this time of year, I'd offer to organize beer myself. Despite some recent experiences, I CAN organize my way out of a brown paper bag.]
