Sorry for the delay in what we are bringing, it will be two sides. Hijiki Salad and an Italian Lentil Salad (Giada recipe). The Hijiki Salad strangely came from a recipe book printed by the LPGA (golf) and was given to me when I worked as a volunteer at the recent Solheim Cup, the international women's golf tournament held in August in Sugar Grove, Il.

    Hi,

Supplies, the gap is closing, need is more tables and chairs. Clorox wipes for cleaning. anti-septic hand gel especially near food prep area.

For those who will be preparing food, we will set up a prep area near the grills. I'll bring a packet of latex gloves for those who want them. Anyone want to comment what is needed in the prep area? It is assumed if you need knives and cutting boards, you will bring your own.

If anyone thinks something has been overlooked, please say so! Far easier to figure out now than on the spot.

    Regards,
    Cathy2

How about bringing your own picnic basket if you can? Or at least reusable water bottles, cups, plates, utensils, linens, etc. We'll bring some stickers and Sharpies too.

Since I won't be able to cook for the picnic, I will bring Clorox wipes, hand sanitizer and cups.

If there is anything else needed, please let me know.

For a long time, my trunk used to have an airline bag filled with those necessities. Nothing ever disapeered, because who else wanted to be seen with McDonald-Land plates! When my nieces grew up and spontaneous picnics ceased, it left the car and disapeered into the house.

I'll defer to Cathy, but I'd go with the 6 foot banquet table.

Work will prevent me from making sweet potato salad ( -bummer) so I will bring plastic tablecloths. How many do we need? I'm on it.
Also - would anyone be opposed to box wine? No, not franzia! Something more like black box...

jimswside - bring the table, instead of the grill.

    Joelf - thanks!

Lazygal - get the cheapo 99 cents (hopefully) maybe 5 tablecloths. If you are buying on Saturday, then check how things are going onthe list. Rainbow colors, cause nothing else matches!

    Hi,

Those still on the fence about attending, please advise your attendance. We like to have nametags for everyone, which do take some time to generate.

There are also tags for the food, if it is known to us.

The earlier we know, the more likely no nametag will be overlooked.

    Regards,
    Cathy2

    Hi,

There will be a number of kids there. The pinata is definitely a go.

It would be nice to organize a few games for our young participants. If a few people help organize one kid thing each, they will be well entertained.

Gifted a Bhut Jolokia major hot-ass pepper by the Zaragoza's last wk, couldn't think of a better audience to share it with. I'm thinking ripe mango would work well w/it, so the namecard should read "Bhut Salsa".

Let me know if you would like names for the Viking Horde as well :)

    FYI: Camp stove fuel restriction.

I was planning on bringing a Coleman table top camp stove that runs on white gas, but knowing that California outlawed their use some years ago, decided to call the Forest Preserve District today and check whether it is acceptable.

Per the FPD, stoves that use liquid fuels are not allowed at Forest Preserve properties. Stoves utilizing fully contained fuels, such as propane, are allowed.

I'll purchase a propane fueled camp stove and bring it along instead.

I hope others planning on bringing camp stoves find this note helpful.
