in case anyone is interested in trying a fruit that they've never had before or has been looking for them, My ex-wife brought over some Quenepas (also called spanish limes or mamoncillos) the other day for me and the kids to try. She got them at armitage produce.
They're kinda like lychees in form and interior texture but with a sweet limey taste to the flesh of the fruit, I found a nice picture

I was in here today (had wandered over looking for the street taco vendors*) and they have large bags of Quenepas in right now in case anyone is looking. It's a pretty nifty little grocery with every single item ever produced by Goya, interesting cuts of meat, a large variety of cooking implements/vessels, hard to find produce, etc. I tend to overlook it in favor of Tony's on Fullerton, but really need to spend some more time here. I'll definitely be back for their very inexpensive cuts of meat for soup (pork neck bones, beef neck bones, beef shanks) and some of the more difficult to locate Goya products.

Although the taco vendors weren't out, the pastele and tamale vendors were out in full force
